Thank you for your interest in a possible author event at The Book Cellar. We host quite a few events every month and our event space is in high demand. Any author interested in an event must meet the following standards:
Have a book published within the last year.
Have your book stocked at The Book Cellar.
Books must be available at standard retail terms (minimum 40% discount and fully returnable).
Pay a $75.00 event fee*. This helps us cover promotional and other event costs.
Agree to promote the event yourself and commit to inviting a minimum of 20 people.
If your situation meets these standards, please send a detailed proposal to our events email at email@example.com. Please include the following information:
A concise summary of the book including the date of publication.
A short bio of the author.
What type of event you are looking to hold (reading, signing, discussion group, etc).
Dates and times of other events you will be having in the Lake Worth area.
Your promotional plans for the book/event.
Your estimated attendance and sales?
Time frame you are looking to book an event.
We will review your proposal. In addition, we will match your proposal with our customer base as well as other events in this category to determine if your event would be a good fit for our store. If we are interested, we will contact you to arrange a date and time for the event.
It is important to note that in addition to the event promotions listed below, each author needs to work to promote their own events to the local media, newspapers, special interest groups and personal contacts.

Consignment Policy and Process
The Book Cellar congratulates you on the publication of your book. We are thankful for your interest in placing it on our shelves. We believe in supporting local indie authors by giving them the opportunity to sell their books in our store through the consignment process. That being said, we are a small bookstore and space is limited so we need to be extremely selective in placing books.
Basic requirements are as follows:
Your book must have the title and author name on the spine
Your book must have an ISBN
Your book must have at least a 40% discount
It must be no older than 6 months
You must reside in the state of Florida
If your book meets all of the requirements listed above, you may qualify for placement in our program. We read every book that we consider for placement before making our decision. We are looking for the following criteria in newly published titles:
Cover design must be salable
Illustrations and photos must be presentable
Content and quality of writing will be taken into account
Author will pay a one time $25.00 consignment fee per title
Author will agree to a retail split of 40/60%
If you believe your book will qualify, we will gladly consider it. Please compose a letter with the following information included:
Name of book and ISBN
Sales history (if any)
Concise description of the book
Short bio of the author
Your connection to the Lake Worth area
Please email your letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not deliver a copy to the store until we have requested one from you. If the copy was not requested, it will not be considered for placement.
If your book is approved for placement in our store, we will usually carry at most 2 copies at a time for a period of 3-6 months. If, after a period of six months, there are consistent, proven sales we can move away from a consignment agreement and purchase the titles outright. Checks for sales (if any) will be issued the first week of the month.
Any titles that have failed to sell at least one copy after two months will be returned at our discretion. The author will have 30 days from notification to pick up any books being returned as unsold. Any copies not picked up within that period will be considered abandoned and donated.
Good luck with your publishing efforts. We look forward to hearing from you!
